Grainy nose with a hint of spicy hops. Slightly sweet with a nice grainy aftertaste that is a bit buttery. Crisp finish with perfect amount of carbonation for the style. Very good beer. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 8, 2005 Large bubbly off-white head. King of chunky. Light malts and hops with a bit of sweetness. Color is a dark orange. Wow. Much more hops in the flavor than expected and from the aroma. Quite nice and hoppy. Little bit of orange and flowers. Quite bitte flavor and finish. Slick and oily at the finish with more bitterness. A decent brew. jasonp (1513), Sterling/Dulles, Virginia, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Mar 26, 2005 Clear copper with a medium off-white head. Aroma of caramel, bread and floral hops. Taste has notes of toffee, toasted malt, caramel and a solid dose of hops. Some bitterness/pepper in the aftertaste, finish is a little metallic. Flavor fades into wateriness. Medium-thin body, watery texture and moderate carbonation. No lacing, decent head retention. Needs more body, sweetness and depth. OK. boto (1345), Granby, Connecticut, USA

I do get a bit of caramel in the aroma. Also some malt sweetness and hops. Similar tastes. The beer is very smooth and well rounded, with a slight bitterness at the end. Overall, a pretty decent offering. wilkie (1192), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 21, 2002 Has a taste similar to a pilsener, but not quite
as crisp. Caramel detected but not very strong.
I love this brewery, but this is clearly not their best
beer. Wiseblood (658), Clarksville, Tennessee, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 26, 2005 Dark gold with a strong white head. Smells sweet and nutty with a dose of caramel. Very clean flavors, but it came across as a bit watery and lacking in body. Sweet, somewhat fruity beginning leads to a slight balancing bitterness in the end. 19641948 (491), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 16, 2006 From notes 7/21/04:
Pours an attractive deep amber color with a light beige head. Fluffy and full with great staying power. Intricate lacing. Sweet malty aromas with an ample amount of nut involved. Caramel, toffee, and nut. Inviting. Flavors have more of the same, with a sweet caramelly feel and a lingering nuttiness afterward. Some hops cut through the sweetness nicely in a non-overpowering way. Seems to improve as it warms. The initial coldness of the beer seemed to mute many of the characteristics. Modest mouthfeel. Slightly slick in its feel. Drinkable to say the least. A nice offering.
