| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 9, 2008 Appearance: Pours a light hazy, brown body with a small, wispy white head.
Smell: Semi-sweet chocolate and roasted nuts with a handful of spruce twigs and spice.
Taste: Chocolatey, with a taste of burnt nuts, a dash of mocha, and a muted sweetness - like a Nutella-based beer. Hops tasting of spruce with a medium bitterness. Spicy, drying finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation that pricks the tongue at times and enhances that spicy finish.
Drinkability: Loads of character for a humble brown ale. vadavid (131), Fredericksburg, Virginia, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 22, 2007 A solid overall brown ale. Honestly I’m not the biggest fan of brown ales, but it tastes good during these indian summer days. Brown, but not very dark. Malty sweetness present, but not strong. Slightly nutty. No strong flavors here. gotohelunc (476), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Aug 12, 2007 Draft at the brewery. Looks almost perfect in the glass...dark brown, small tan head. Smells like roasted nuts and sugars. The flavor starts out pretty good with sweet caramel, cashews, and almonds, but as it warms up the flavor’s a little off with increasing sour flavors. It left my mouth overly sticky feeling. rowefam3 (70), kendallville, Indiana, USA
