Commercial Description:
A medium bodied, dark brown ale with a complex chocolatey, toasted malt taste. The word "nut" in the name implies a dry nut-like taste that makes it distinct from some of the sweeter brwon ales.

Pours a slightly hazy brown with a small white head. Mild aroma, some nuttiness, some malts. The taste is pretty mild as well, a little bit nutty, a little bitter as well. not really a great taste here. Kind of watery mouthfeel. Lacking on flavor and body. Disappointed.

Bottle dated 4/4/07 purchased at the brewery. Nice mahogoney brown color and fully laced head. Nice roasted caramel aroma; wow, this has a nice woody, nutty, earthy flavor ... this makes me want to go camping. (#2838, 5/4/2007)

The color was amber. The head was thin, off-white, and creamy. The aroma was nutty with some spice. The flavor was distinctly nutty, spicy, and a little tart. The palate was thin-bodied and smooth. The finish was clean.

Pours a reddish brown with a medium thin creamy tan head. The aroma is dominated by nuts and grain. The flavor is predominantly nutty too, some cereal grain, and a bit of sweetness. The palate is refreshing. A very good session brew. It feels like this should get a little bit higher than 3.4 but its just not outstanding enough to merit it, still a good beer especially for the price.

Poured a light brown with ample head. Very nice malt flavor. Definitely taste the nuttiness. I have had their IPA and Pale Ales quite often but I will try this one more in the future.

Great Beer! Chocolatey, toasted malt... My first taste reminded me of hazelnuts... I definetly recommend!

Dark brown color. Very little head, disappeared quickly. Little to moderate lacing. Taste was nutty with hints of chocolate and coffee. After taste was slightly bitter with a lingering chocolate taste. A solid Brown ale!

Bottle. This brown ale pours a shade of brown. Yep. The head is whispy and small. I wouldn’t describe this style as being the most aromatic, but the nose is fairly assertive, complex, and pleasing. The sweetness in the aroma leans toward a more chocolatey nature while a dry, walnut hint spices things up a bit. A bit of bread and moss are in the nose while the level of hoppiness is low to none. It’s a bit thinner in the mouth with less chocolate to be found, but rather it has a toasty, bitter flavor with a dry finish. Just a tiny hint of citrus seems to intertwine with the hints of soil and nuts. It didn’t quite live up to the aroma, but this is pretty good. It makes the idea of a lighter bodied brown ale sound pretty good after all. I pick up more ashy notes as I drink, it reminds me of flavors often found in a porter, but the thickness and/or coffee presence is absent. Pretty interesting.
