From notes 11/15/04: Pours a deep golden orange with a rather voluminous creamy off-white head. Sheets of lacing cling to the glass with resolve. Thick heavy scents of malt and toffee. Some caramel square chewiness in the aroma along with some light twinges of yeastiness. Flavors are dominated by a chewy malt backbone. Thick and coating. Smooth and full. A glimmer of hops peek out at the end. For the sweet and thick maltiness of this beer, the finish is clean and dry. A finite end. A nice beer. Solid. Easily drinkable. The pints were flowing smoothly while passing the time at Village Draft House in Raleigh.

Keg. Pretty amber with a white head. Very smooth drinking, but with the signature Carolina hop character and bitterness. Perhaps a little too much bitterness, but not unpleasant. Aroma was very light. Citrus perhaps? Maltyness was the highlight; tasted right for cold weather. Warming effect was unexpected.

Draught. Clear amber color with thin off white head. Not much nose, a bit of roasy malt. Caramel, spicy flavor without much hop flavor or bitterness. Not bad.

Amber in color with a nice caramel malt flavor. It has some small hop compliment but not to over do it. Very drinkable beer and a nice seasonal beer.

Dark amber in color with a thin off white head. NIce aromas. Malty and caramel flavors, and a nice, slight tough of hops. Very Enjoyable.

An easy drinking oktoberfest that is packed with flavor regardlessly. CBC’s beers are usually on the dry side, and this is no exception.

Good flavor, but nothing special in general. Nice blend of roasted malt and caramel flavor, but hops are almost undetectable. It is better than Sam Adam’s version of Oktoberfest, but certainly not the best I have had.
