Commercial Description:
Our stout is brewed in the style of a dry Irish stout, but is quite different from the draft Guinness widely available in the Triangle. It's much more full bodied and much higher in alcohol (5.6% by volume). It's blackish brown in color and features an initial caramel flavor with a dry, roasted finish.

Another nice stout from CBC. This one wasn’t quite as dark black as the CBC Impy stout, had less intense flavors, and was a tad drier. The chocoff was there in aroma and taste, as was a fairly dense palate and solid complexity. The bartender was a bit confused about this versus the CBC groundhog stout.

Bottle. Picked up as an extra in a trade. Pours a dark black body with a tan head. Aroma is coffee, chocolate, and sweet malt. No real hops or etoh coming through here and very drinkable. I’d drink it again.

Draught. Opaque black with tan head that laced the glass. Roasty nose with coffee and chocolate flavors. Dry with a smoky wood aftertaste that lingers. Moderate carbonation. Nice stout for those "cold" days in North Carolina.

12oz bottle bottled on 11/22/05 via trade with jonathan3584 - Thanks Jonathan! - pours black with ruby highlights and a nice creamy mocha head that stays well and laces down the sides of the english pint. Aroma is big coffee, roasted malts and chocolate. Flavor is mostly coffee, some roasted malts and a somewhat earthy note. A bit of that chocolate comes through though. Palate is smooth and creamy with a very dry finish. Nice and roasty. Just the way a dry stout should be. Tasty!

Bottled 1/30/08. Dark brown pour with a fluffy white head. Big roasty aroma combined with expresso is a definate plus. Slightly thin bodied. Creamy mouth-feel with notable notes of; Chocolate, roast (almost smokey), and coffee. Subtle dry finish.

Bottle courtesy of Jonathan3584. bottled 11-22-05. Black with decent beige head. Aroma is almost non-existant, faint coffee and that’s it. Flavor is all bitter coffee through and through. Tad thin on the palate. Not much going on here at all.

Bottle, thanks Surffisher! Pours ultra deep red with a nice white, rocky head. The aroma is just a bit chalky, with coffee and caramel being the major scents. The flavor profile is pretty decent with some brown sugar, walnuts, cream sweetness, and a bit of instant coffee. The whole beer reminds me of sitting something on a campfire for a little while. I didn’t find this to be particularly dry. Pretty good stout.

Draught. Very roasty in aroma and appears dark ruby, with tannish head. REALLY FOLKS, this is the same as the Groundhog beer. Maybe someone will actually listen to me at some point. Until then, the flavor is slightly dry in the finish, malts are well balanced, roasty, and there is a good hop presence.

Tan head which slowly dissipates. Dark color with ruby hues. Aroma is malty, roasty, and slightly sweet. Has a lightly roasted flavor with coffee overtones. Nice burnt/bitter finish. Tinge of sweeetness as beer warms. Overall, fairly decent.
