12 oz bottle shared with my buddy Nick. Light brown pour with a small tan head. Aroma is caramel malt with some slight roast and chocolate. Flavor pretty much identical, the caramel malt being the most prominent feature. Slightly dry finish.

Sample taster at John’s Market Place. Nose of roastiness, caramel, and a cocoa hint. Clear brown with a medium beige head. Flavor was caramel maltiness with only a hint of bitterness.

Draft @ 7th St Brewhouse, Redmond, OR. Pours a clear pale brown color with a longlasting creamy off-white head. Has a slightly sweetish malty caramel and chocolate aroma. Roasted malty caramel flavor with some hints of chocolate. Has a roasted malty caramel finish.

Bottle from Sondra. Amber color with a decent off-white head. Rich, lightly roasted, malt aroma. Medium in body with creamy carbonation. Flavor is roasty malty sweet, with a little accompanying bitter. The finish is sort of creamy sweet with a little backing bitter. Very pleasant and quaffable brown ale. Might be a good session ale.

Visited the brew pub in Bend, OR. Pours reddish brown with small white head. Slight malt, some sweetness, but otherwise seems bland and thin to me.

Poured reddish brown with minimal head and some lacings. Sweet aroma, brown sugar. Taste is sweet malts, brown sugar, toasty. Hops are a minor player but nicely bitter. Good dry finish. Overall pretty good example of the type. Will try a draft version sometime.
