HoppyGuy (111), USA Jul 19, 2008 Bottle. Pours a dark brown color with a tan head. A bit of a weak aroma, with some chocolate and malt. Thin taste also, with roasted barley/chocolate flavor, verging on the side of too sweet for me. I think this beer misses the balance between malts and hops. This brew won’t scare anyone away, since it has such a light body to it, and no one would accuse it of being heavy. I’m not anxious to run out and get more of it. carboloader (318), Houston, Texas, USA Jul 4, 2008 Visited brew pub in Bend, OR. Pours opaque with tan head. Delicious coffee, malt, roast flavors. Very smooth. Maybe a bit thin, but a very decent porter. cathcacr (585), Portland, Oregon, USA Jun 26, 2008 Oh damn, the aroma on this is considerably like Baba Booey’s breath. You know, that gingivitisy, awful stench that makes you think of solid human waste. I don’t advise taking a whiff of this one when drinking it, even if the rest of it is okay. Oh my god, yuck. :-(
Angeloregon (2024), Portland, Oregon, USA May 11, 2008 From a bottle at Belmont Station--Poured a dark brown body with a rich tan two-finger beige head. Spicy, sweet, liquorish nose with a decent hop presence. Quite clean on the palate, good carbonation level, and well-balanced malt sweetness to bittering finish. Yum! unrulythings (73), Portland, Oregon, USA May 4, 2008 pours an opaque black with a thick tan head. aroma is of dark chocolate, with a bit of smoke and pepper. flavor is pretty chocolaty too, with hints of hops, smoke and licorice. a decent beer, easy drinking. bitbucket (2024), Kirkland, Washington, USA Mar 28, 2008 Bottle. Pours opaque, nearly black, with a thin light brown head. Dark chocolate and smoke aroma. Ratebeer sez "Porters are often confused with stouts." Gee, I wonder why! Light-ish body and medium carbonation. Lightly sweet taste, with a bit of chocolate and coffee. Lightly bitter dry finish with a little espresso and just a smidge of pine. dkingsella (84), Portland, Oregon, USA Feb 14, 2008 Picked up a sixer at the grocery store. Faint aroma of roasted nuts and malt. Pours black with not much head. Some lacing. Tastes of chocolate, malt and hops in the background. Not too much going on here. A decent porter to be sure, but much better to be had in the area. AleDrinker (1090), Sunnyvale, California, USA Nov 27, 2007 Pretty standard here. Pour dark brown. Aromas of roasted malt and coffee. Flavor is slightly dry. Body is thin. Not bad.
