Commercial Description:
Chocolate, Chocolate, Chocolate. This is the best way to describe Monkey Face Porter. It is a medium bodied porter with significant chocolate malt characteristics. But don’t let the dark color scare you. This beer finishes extremely dry with a hint of the Willamette hops used to create this perfectly balanced porter. Monkey Face Porter is perfect after a long day at the mountain or on the river!

Decent, a little high in roasted acidity and carbonation with gives the mouthfeel a bit of annoyance. This one actually has some nice flavors and complexity. Rich aroma of chocolate cocoa reminscent of Swiss Miss. Creamy, somewhat enjoyable.

Bottle: Coffee, cocoa, and fruit nose, maybe some licorice; mild, smooth sumatra coffee and dark chocolate roastiness; smooth bitterness in the tail. This is a nice, drinkable porter if a tad bland.

(Bottle) Pours a black body with a moderate creamy tan head. Aroma of chocolate malt. Flavor of chocolate malt, vinous, and nuts with a dry finish.

Bottle from Steve and served in my GL snifter: Pours a deep brown and a small fading tan head and some lace. The aroma has notes of carmel, chocolate, and black malts; grassy and floral hops; and noticeable coffee. The flavor starts with a hit of sweet chocolate and roasted malt before a dose of bitterness that seem to be from both hops and coffee. Pretty well balance but not enough texture and is a tad overcarbonated. Overall, a workable porter and easy to drink, never boring.

Bottle. Pours an ultra-deep brown color, hints of ruby. Fair tan head forms and fades out to a ring. Slight lacing. Aroma is fairly pleasant, light coffee, some nuts and chocolate. Medium bodied, runs a bit overcarbonated which detracts from mouthfeel. Decent roasted grain flavors, nutty, some chocolate with a fairly noticeable hop bitterness towards the finish. Fairly well done.

On Tap at Cascade Lakes Lodge Clear very dark brown with a nice tan head with very smooth creamy lacing due to the nitro. Lots of dark roasted malt aromas and a rather acidic/metalic flavor and an almost rusty aftertaste. A rather thin feel made this a bit of a dissapointment.

Good chocolatey flavor, nice head. Aroma and flavor are mostly chocolate at first, but it has a hop bite at the end that doesn’t seem quite right. A decent beer, but nothing special.

Bottle: This beer is basically black with a light brown fizzy head. It wafts the rich, full roasted malt aromas into the nasal passages creating a "thank you" sensation. The flavors are mainly mild charcoal, dark choco-mocha-nut yumminess. I enjoyed the feel on this one since it wasn’t as oily and thin as other porters. It has more substance which makes it like a comfy blanket for your tastebuds. Delicious!
