Commercial Description:
Chocolate, Chocolate, Chocolate. This is the best way to describe Monkey Face Porter. It is a medium bodied porter with significant chocolate malt characteristics. But don’t let the dark color scare you. This beer finishes extremely dry with a hint of the Willamette hops used to create this perfectly balanced porter. Monkey Face Porter is perfect after a long day at the mountain or on the river!

Kind of a flat-looking dark brown. Creamy, coffeeish aroma is fairly by-the-numbers. Not a ton going on palate-wise either. A simple coffee-accented standard porter.

Courtesy of After4ever, thanks Tom. It is black with a red hue and a creamy head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt and chocolate. The flavour has a light sweetness and notes of roasted malt, milk chocolate, coffee, dry citrus and a light, roasted bitterness in the finish. It is uncomplicated and light, and very easy to drink.

Pitch black. Creamy toasted bread and smoked bran. Good thick palate, mild flavors overall... mild and light toasted malts, creamy coffee. Good, but not complex.

Sampled draught at Cascade Lakes Lodge, Bend
Black color, light brown edges & a thin layer of lacing. Nose of sweet candied mocha, licorice & roast. Flavor has a brief astringency but stays in the sweet roast realm 90% of the time. Finishes mochaish & roast with chocolate & coffee

Draft @ 7th St Brewhouse, Redmond, OR. Pours a darkish brown almost black color with a longlasting off-white head. Has a roasted malty chocolate aroma. Roasted malty chocolate and coffee flavor. Has a roasted malty finish with some hints of chocolate in the aftertaste.

Bottle from John’s Market. Aromas of chocolate and dark toasted malts. Pretty opaque dark brown/black. Brown light through the glass edges. Frothy, somewhat lacing, tan head. Thin to medium bodied. Starts with chocolate, which develops with swishing. Which thins the ale. The finish begins with a light malty sweetness, replaced by toasted malts, accompanied by enough hop bitter to make this a really good, as opposed to average, experience. Chocolate returns in the end. A good one.
