Dec 19, 2005 Bottle from Steve and served in my GL snifter: Pours a deep brown and a small fading tan head and some lace. The aroma has notes of carmel, chocolate, and black malts; grassy and floral hops; and noticeable coffee. The flavor starts with a hit of sweet chocolate and roasted malt before a dose of bitterness that seem to be from both hops and coffee. Pretty well balance but not enough texture and is a tad overcarbonated. Overall, a workable porter and easy to drink, never boring.

Nov 8, 2009 Received a single bottle from two trades from the Northwest states. Sampled from 12-oz bottle, pours a near opaque dark brown brew with a creamy light tan head that has some excellent lacing and good retention. Aroma of toasted black malt, dark chocolate, some flowery hops and a touch of sweet coffee. Taste is medium bodied, light carbonation with a good balance of toasted malt and hop bitterness. Finish has a mostly dark roasted malt flavor with just a touch of hop bitterness.

Sep 20, 2002 Dark black color, medium head. A full-bodied porter. Roasted malts, slightly sweet and chocolaty. Hops are slightly spicy. Full flavored. Smooth taste. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter. Nice beer.

Mar 10, 2009 Thanks to Homerwantsbeer for sharing a bottle. The beer is a dark brown color with a medium thin beige head that diminishes steadily. Thin rings of lacing on the glass. Roasted malt and chocolate in the nose. Dry, medium body with flavors of roasted coffee and chocolate plus some malt and hops. The finish is dry and roasty with a pleasant coffee aftertaste. Decent all around.

Apr 30, 2004 #555 on my beerwall. Nice dark color with a tan head. Roasted aroma with a chocolaty-o-licious aroma. Creamy chocolate taste with coffee tones and some nice hops to back it up. Not a bad porter.

Nov 13, 2003 Deep dark brown with a thin, light-tan head that left behind thin lace patterns. Roasted nose. Lightly chewy mouthfeel; soft carbonation. A little watery at times. Sweet licorice malt base. Notes of chocolate and sweetened coffee. Definitely leans on the sweet side. Had some nice and fresh roasted flavors, but it's lightish body and heavy sweetness didn't do it for me.

Feb 11, 2006 Decent, a little high in roasted acidity and carbonation with gives the mouthfeel a bit of annoyance. This one actually has some nice flavors and complexity. Rich aroma of chocolate cocoa reminscent of Swiss Miss. Creamy, somewhat enjoyable.
