Spicy, sweet, liquorish nose with a decent hop presence. Quite clean on the palate, good carbonation level, and well-balanced malt sweetness to bittering finish. Yum! | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 3/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 10, 2003 very nice dark brown or rather black color, small tan head that faded pretty fast.Malty sweet aroma with strong hints of coffee.Malty taste with a nice medium carbonation, definatley has some coffee in it but nothing real strong pretty mild, with a mild hop presence.some light hints of chocolate and possible caramel as well. The feel is slightly watery but still pretty decent the after taste was mildly sweet with roasted malt and and mild hops, coppeled with some hints of semi-sweet chocolate. Not a bad brew at all,in fact it's damn good and very highly drinkable. phishpond417 (1953), Madison, Wisconsin, USA

Cocoa, coffee and burnt toast and smoke on the nose. Equal in flavour also. Toasty and chocolatey with some breadiness on the palate. Beautiful colour, kind of muddy and monkey like with some shit floating around. Great beer overall. Non stop beauty from all these awesome beers. ABUSEDGOAT (1934), California, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 14, 2005 Bottle. Pours an ultra-deep brown color, hints of ruby. Fair tan head forms and fades out to a ring. Slight lacing. Aroma is fairly pleasant, light coffee, some nuts and chocolate. Medium bodied, runs a bit overcarbonated which detracts from mouthfeel. Decent roasted grain flavors, nutty, some chocolate with a fairly noticeable hop bitterness towards the finish. Fairly well done. Murphy (1759), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 25, 2004 Not much head. Slight roasted aroma. Body could be bigger for a porter but not bad. Taste is mainly roasted malt, but also some molassis type action going on. Nice sweet molassis finish. Only slightly bitter.
