SuzyGreenberg (1318), Seattle, Washington, USA Sep 29, 2009 draft @ Uber - beautiful, glowing purple that is mostly clear with a huge soft purple head; nice zing from the fresh blackberry mixed with other tart fruit; some barrel helps to round it out; light, fizzy and quite smooth; very nice DiabolikDUB (143), Portland, Oregon, USA Jun 20, 2009 On-Tap @ Bailey’s Taproom poured into Snifter glass.
Poured a bright cherry red, crystal clear, with a rocky dense pink head that never dissolves fully and leaves a heavy layer around the glass. The aroma is full of tart fruits and some yeast. The flavor is filled with even more sourness than the aroma and is accompanied by some oak and earthy hops that are hidden. Its seems light bodied and has lots of carbonation and finishes nice and dry. This is a very nice sour, I would love to try it again. boFNjackson (1233), Portland, Oregon, USA Jun 19, 2009 Tap @ Bailey’s Taproom... Poured a cherry red with a pink head. Tart, sugary and fruity aroma. Super dry palate with a strong vinegar tartness which lended to a puckering, berry fruit character. The fruits tasted very fresh and authentic. AmEricanbrew (1747), Louisiana, USA Jun 4, 2009 Draft@ Uber Tavern. Brilliant copper/red color with a rocky pink head. Strong earthy barnyard aroma with tart citrus. Prickly mouthfeel. Tart, dry flavors of lemon blackberry, wood, with very light sweet toasted caramel. More barnyard in the aroma than other Cascade sours. Enjoyed this one. snakeoilpete (324), Seattle, Washington, USA May 29, 2009 On tap at Uber’s Cascade Night (and Brouwer’s Sour Fest). Pours clear purplish fuchsia with a huge pink head, immediately answering the question of whether this was the same stuff as the "Blackberry" that they bottle. Sour funky raspberry nose. The blackberries really come through in the taste more than the aroma. Tart all the way through. Nice finish. riversideAK (2648), Shoreline, Washington, USA May 18, 2009 Nice purple reddish pour with an awesome pinkish red head. Fantastic aroma of fresh blackberry, tart latic notes, and some vinegar as well. Lots of fresh blackberry flavors, some vinegar, a good amount of sour barrel notes, but also tons of fresh fruit characteristics. Nice clean tart/sour finish. I really like the real fruit aspects in this one. A panty dropper perhaps... mj (4973), Colorado, USA May 18, 2009 Draft pour @ Brouwer’s Sour Fest 2009. Burnt plum purple colored body, moderately cloudy with a visually striking purple and dark pink head - beautiful presentation. Chalky, dusty drywall strikes the nose - the blackberry character is jammy but what seems like the lacto and pedio character is minerally/chalky/dusty/powder-like, and on the tongue and palate it’s sloppily dry/chalky/rough. Could benefit from slightly more sweetness and perhaps more natural blackberry tartness, but not to the level of the previous fruit-focused Cascade Blackberry (this is in fact *nothing* like that one). Tart more than acidic, but certainly rough and unkempt. Casutic at times, with a surprisingly thin and weak texture in the finish - no chewiness/frothiness/fullness to round it out. cprochak (388), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA May 18, 2009 Draft for Sourfest 2009 at Brouwer’s for SBW. Pours a dark purple with a pink head. Floral hop aroma with berry undertones. Unfortunately, this was incredibly sour, but you could still pick up some blackberry and current flavors as well as some nice hops. Ultimately, good flavor, but a bit too sour that leaves my mouth puckering.
