riversideAK (2648), Shoreline, Washington, USA Sep 12, 2009 Copper pour, light foamy head, a little lace. The aroma is full of lactic tartness, lots of wood, strong belgian notes as well, spicy and fruity. Lots of green apples and big quad notes. A little cider. The flavor is full of tart apples, oak barrel, fruity spice and quad base beer. This is taken over by a nice lactic tartness that rounds out the finish. Really damn good. Drinks very well for 12%, I think I had two or three. Fuck yeah Ron is the man hoes! bvc (227), Kenmore, Washington, USA Jun 7, 2009 Draft at Uber. Pours a very slightly hazy rusty light brown color with tightly carbonated off white head that leaves some decent lacing. Nose is tart lacto, apple, woody and some faint brown sugar notes. Tight carbonation on the palate. Flavor is tart with the apple and barrel showing up as well. Glad to get to try this one. carruthm (1109), Seattle, Washington, USA May 30, 2009 Draft at uber. Cloudy orange color with just a ring of head. Looks thick bodied. Sour aroma naturally, fruity. Very smooth though, not overly tart but just enough to give you some flavor. after4ever (2711), Brier, Washington, USA May 28, 2009 Draft at Uber. This is always such a treat--such a huge beast, but so drinkable and approachable. Pours deep murky orange, with light strings of tannish foam knocking around up top. Big tart lacto notes--balsamic vinegar and way-overripe strawberries. Thick, almost creamy medium body. The carbonation is not widespread in the body, but definitely shows good life. Plenty of pleasant tangy tart bite in the mid-palate; there are orange, strawberry, and most of all tart vinegar there as well. Finish has definite stamina, but it’s not puckering or overwhelming in any way. AmEricanbrew (1747), Louisiana, USA May 28, 2009 @ Uber tavern, which describes this as the base brew for the Vlad. Hazy amber with a fleeting white head. Tart citrus and sour wet wood aromas with toasted caramel. Medium body with light carbonation. Lightly sour flavors of lemon, cherry, and earthy wet wood with a glazed caramel sweetness to balance. Has some very mild heat to finish. The strong sweet n’ sour flavors keep the 12% abv well hidden. Great beer.
