Commercial Description:
Our flagship, this beer defines the classic, American-Style Pale Ale. We looked to the Pacific Northwest, rather than England, for our inspiration and our ingredients. Utilizing malt, hops, water, and most importantly yeast from the USA allowed us to create a balanced, highly drinkable beer. It’s no accident that the Carrabassett Pale Ale is our top-selling beer, year after year.

Best before 11/30/2005 bottle consumed on 12/17/05. Pours a honey-amber, slight, slight haze. White head is moderately well retained with even light flecks of lace left behind. Some light sediment on the bottom of the bottle. Light, bready malts in the nose, earthy, soily, damp and dusty, with a hop profile that can’t decide what it wants to do. At times, lightly citric, other times earthy, soily and plant twiggy-like. And don’t forget the plastic. Kind of a plant-fertilizer-like note that I get from their yeast (in all their beers). Dry grapefruit rinds as well. Flavor is light pale sugars, touches of floral hop bitterness with more light citrus flavors and a hint of soil on the finish; I guess you could call that moderate complexity being added to the pale malt sugars. Carbonation is high and the texture shows a good amount of filtration. Quite yeasty in flavor as well (plastic sort of thing).

Light amber color. Malt and yeast aroma carries through to taste which is smooth and flavorful. Good quality ale that doesn’t disappoint.

I really liked this beer, as far as pales go it did everything i like them to do. Very hoppy aroma, which led into a nice hoppy taste. Good clean crisp taste with a slightly dry aftertaste.

Clear orange with a thin white head. Earthy hops with a bit of lemon in the aroma. Starts and ends a bit bitter. Decent but a bit bland.

A decent pale ale; hops apparent, amber/yellow in color with a small whitish head. Hint of citrus, but balance is good.

Well, this beer seemed to have promise. The arome was there as soon as I opened it. Somewhat familiar with a bananna nut bread and some decent malt in toe. However, pouring about a fifth of the bottle filled the pint glass with head. Not the way I usually prefer my beer. The mouthfeel is right off the bat crisp and carbonated, (like I didnt see that part coming) Beyond that thew flavor is a decent smoothness, with a bananna flavor to it.

Grassy aromatic hops dabble in powdery earth impressions...Malt is strongly influenced by oranges and grain cookies...A faint, bitter aftertaste introduces citrusy hops and prolongs the reign of the sweet, fruity malt (peaches and oranges again)...A competent pale ale, but somehow less than the sum of its parts...
