Commercial Description:
We proudly introduce this, our first seasonal beer in the Carrabassett line. Its 6.8% ABV makes it a Strong Ale by style and the rich, creamy, malty base and mellow hop balance make it an instant classic. This full-flavored and medium-bodied beer rounds out an enjoyable day spent outdoors or a cozy evening spent in by the fire.

Clear, dark amber brew with a tight tan head. It looked grea! A bit bitter, a taste that lingered. More hoppy than malty. I missed the promised "creamy, malty base" and found the hops dominated. It lacked the balance I anticipated.

OK ... everyone has his or her own extremely differentiated preferences. My expectations for this were quite low, since I have not much cared for the small New England brewers other than Allagash. This one is great. Rich copper color, like a Fullers 1845, small head but great lacing (I know, not what the other reviewers saw). Lots of malt, enough bitterness, and enough spicy bite that I wondered if it had clove or ginger added. Strong sweet malt, caramel toffee, floral, fruit, and bitter hops, all in balance. Makes me think of a Fullers 1845 in taste as well.

Nice looking beer, clear sparkling garnet with a medium rocky manila head. The aroma is sweet up front with caramel and toffee distiguishable, later some tobacco and cocoa come through. The flavor is sweet and nutty throughout. Medium to lightly bitter. Almost a brown ale. The other ESA from this same brewer was much better IMO.

Bottle at jeffc666’s Birthday Gathering. Courtesy of argo0, I think. Carbonated copper body. White fizzy head. Aroma is mild hops, light spice, caramel, and faint fruit. Taste is fruity (citrus) and lightly hopped with faint spice and hint of tobacco. Body is medium with big carbonation. Finishes with more spice and hops and light fruit. Not too bad.

Hazy, copper color with a caramel malt aroma. Good sized creamy white head with minimal lacing. Woodsy flavor with toasted malts and dark fruits coming through in the taste. Smooth, lightly hopped, lingering finish.
