Commercial Description:
Our flagship, this Irish-Style Red Ale proudly won a gold medal at the 2000 World Beer Cup. A combination of 5 different malts and 3 hop varietals, carefully blended, results in a perfect balance. Full-flavored and medium-bodied, the Riptide Red provides surprising complexity for such an easy-drinking brew.

pours darker amber with a small khaki head. Nutty malt nose, caramel and a kick of hops at the end. Hops were citrusy and a bit herbal. One of the better Irish red ales that I’ve had in a whiile.

12 oz bottle. Brownish amber with a nice white head. Grainy aromas with a hint of citrus hops. A very malty start and a decent hoppiness at the finish. Not bad but doesn’t stand out that much.

Nice bread aroma. Dark red with a big fluffy head. Malt sweetness and a hop finish. Very nice.

Pours a great red color. Malty aroma. Tasted starts out malty, gets hoppy in the middle and then sweet as it lingers on your tongue. A good beer, but nothing really makes it stand out from the pack.

This is another BOTM selection. I don’t run across red ales very often so my benchmarks are low. Has a malt aroma with nice carbonation and a great red color. Nice even head that drops relatively quick. Taste and hops open up once the chill is gone. Would like to taste on tap.

Bottle. Pours a clear, effervescent red with a generous and lingering tan head. Aroma is caramel malt with a nice citrus hop characteristic at the end of the nose. Flavor is grain up front with a nice hop bitterness and slight malt sweetness at the end. Remains very smooth and drinkable throughout.

Pour is deffinatly red with a large tan head. Aroma is a cross between caramel malts and a nice citrus fruit. Flavor is lots of graininess and a mild hoppy backbone. A very drinkable and smooth beer.
