Commercial Description:
Our flagship, this Irish-Style Red Ale proudly won a gold medal at the 2000 World Beer Cup. A combination of 5 different malts and 3 hop varietals, carefully blended, results in a perfect balance. Full-flavored and medium-bodied, the Riptide Red provides surprising complexity for such an easy-drinking brew.

Pours dark amber with tall tan head that dissipates quickly. Nondescript aroma. Nice unexpected smoky toasted malt flavor, along with bitter finish. Pretty plain overall, but decently drinkable.

12oz bottle from beer club. Not a bad rendition of a style I generally crap on. Typical looking red ale, with a decent sweet nose. What I like about it is that it’s got a slightly dry character owing to some nice hopping. A fairly long citric finish rather than the typical malty mess. Not bad.

Red-golden with a nice, creamy head. The aroma is slightly fruity with caramel, actually more like fruit-caramels. The flavour has the same fruit-caramels, notes of citrus/tangerine, malt and a long finish. The balance between malt and hops is quite charming. 2420

Really no aroma. First taste is quite sweet. Overall it’s decent. Has a little hop presence in the finish, but mostly came off as overly sweet. A bit of caramel too. Re-rate 7,4,5,2,11.

12 oz bottle from LooseCannon. Clear, dark amber/reddish pour with a thick beige head that disintegrates quickly. Solid grapefruit and caramel nose. Thick sheet of lace. Medium body, well carbonated. Nice pink grapefruit flavors, a decent malt backbone holds up well against a fairly aggressive hoppiness. A tad thin in the finish, but a light bubbly quality makes this all the more drinkable. Nice!

12 oz bottle. Pours a reddish copper body under a thin film of beige head that faded quickly. Nice toasted and slightly caramel malty nose with a noticable floral hoppiness. A nice dry toasted malt flavor up font with a little graininess and some moderately bitter hops on the finish. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a slightly husky texture and pleasant soft carbonation. A pleasant easy drinking Irish Red with lots of flavor.
