Commercial Description:
Our flagship, this Irish-Style Red Ale proudly won a gold medal at the 2000 World Beer Cup. A combination of 5 different malts and 3 hop varietals, carefully blended, results in a perfect balance. Full-flavored and medium-bodied, the Riptide Red provides surprising complexity for such an easy-drinking brew.

Bottle. Diactyl bomb! The diactyl is so strong in the aroma it was really tough to choke it down. Flavor is malty with diactyl again being dominant.

Just sort of bought a 6 pack of this for the good price and cause i hadn’t tried it before with no big expectation. Wow what a surprise. This is a well balanced beer with a roasted caramel and sweetness but than teased by some hops int he finish for a great light bitterness. Going to have to explore this brewery more.

On tap at some fancy lobster place outside of Bar Harbor on my summer 2007 trip to Maine. Maybe it was all the wonderful food I ate while on this trip, but none of the beer really stuck out in my mind. This was one of the better ones though.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) On the label credited to Shipyard Brewing Company. Clear amber golden with an off-white head. Sweetish and slightly nutty aroma. Medium body with sweetish roasted malt, nuts and burned caramel. Also a slight touch of sweet licorice. Very subdued bitterness. An easy drink. 210908

Pours a nice amber red into a shaker. Off-white head with excellent retention leaves spot lacing as it recedes to layer surface. Caramel malt aromas. Smooth caramel upfront which transforms to a slightly sour chalk finish.
