Mar 18, 2008 Pours brown red with a small white head. Earthy aroma. Unlike most winters, not heavy on the spice but still plesant to drink. Throw another log on and grab another winter ale!

Mar 18, 2008 Another bottle courtesy of JCB. Pours a pretty crystal clear dark amber/ruby color with a nice 2 finger foamy beige head. Nice lacing. Nose is different – some malt, hops and something I can’t place – sourdough maybe? Palate is roasted malts and slight hops with a bitter finish that doesn’t linger very long. Medium mouth feel. Alcohol is pretty well hidden on this one. Thanks Jason for sending me this – not sure when I’ve ever get a chance to try a brew from Maine.

Mar 12, 2008 Bitter mailty scent. Bitter mailty taste. Deep dark amber, clean looking, but not clear. Bitter on the tounge, a little harsh going down.

Mar 3, 2008 Very tasty. Has a mild mallty aroma. Taste is more complex with some sweet malt but a hop finish. Nice warming feel as it warms.

Mar 3, 2008 12 oz bottle. Deep red almost brown color with an off-white almost greenish head. Malty aroma with just a hint of earthy hops. Strong resiny hoppy flavors at the start. Good caramel maltiness in the middle and a lingering hop bitterness to finish.

Feb 28, 2008 Pours a nice deep red-brown color, nicely formed head. Alcohol dominates the aroma. Taste is subtle malts in the beginning, very bitter in the end. Not a very well balanced beer. Try Sierra Nevada’s celebration ale instead.

Feb 28, 2008 received in a mixer as a beers of the month thing. amber color, creamy beige head with nice lacing. slight bit of alcohol in the nose with some subtle chocolate and a fair bit of raisininess to it. Flavor exhibits similar notes as the nose with a fair amount of bitterness...moreso than I expected. Finishes with a really earthy bitter quality. Quite a nice little beer.

Feb 28, 2008 This beer pours a deep reddish amber with a thin tan head. Tha aroma is old musk , port and malts. The flavor is about the same. Very interesting flavor. Malty, dry and old. Not a bad beer, but not that great either. Get one and try it for yourself. Cheers!
