Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a cloudy mahogany color with numerous floaters and a medium sized tan head. The aroma is sweet malt and faint floral hops. The flavor is roasty dark malts with a moderate floral hop presence and a light underlying sweetness. CapFlu (3483), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada

Nose of bland roasted hops and vanilla cream finish. Flavour is equally unexciting. Not to my liking... Numenor (869), Richmond, Virginia, USA

Cherry-brown body with a light volumed tan head. Dry fruits, roasted malts and oats are present in the aroma, some soap quality as well. Soaps are evident in the body, some light fruits. Nice hop bitterness in the ending. maniac (2628), Richmond, Virginia, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 4, 2006 12oz bottle. Courtesy of Degarth via trade. Pours a clear dark ruby-brown with minimal head and lacing. Aroma is pleasantly vinous, dry-fruity, malty and toated-grain dry. Toasted grain takes center stage in the flavor, dashing hopes that this would be as fruity/malty as the aroma hinted. Moderate hop bitterness and some hop spice. Medium-thick, dryish palate. Not as exciting as I had hoped. RAYBOY01 (1851), Chicago, Illinois, USA

I’m getting a very peculiar off-putting flavor that just pervades this beer...almost a moldy or mildewy taste (think: frathouse shower curtain). I’ll try it again with a fresh bottle and get back to you. crazyvin (1254), New York, USA

Some hops and sweet roasted malts. it was really light and the alcohol seemed lower than waht it is. For the most part it was kinda sweet with some hop flavors it was real smooth and easy drink. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 6, 2006 Pouirs lighter than expected. It is somewhat hoppy with flavors of roasted malts. It is not as full bodied as
most Winter Ales. It has somewhat of a bitter finish. I agree with one of the previous raters that it is hard to put a finger on the different flavor components.
