Aroma is more hoppy than I expected, with some notes of peach as well. The flavor seems to have a lot of different things going on, but all nicely balanced. A beer worth remembering. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 28, 2006 Not too exciting here...but a good brew nonetheless. Not as spicy or thick as my liking for winter brews; the intensity of taste is more suited for a happy hour pub ale. Fairly watery with a nice sweetness on the nose. + Points for the 7.3% ABV. I can also see where if you drank more than one of these, the beer would grow on you. DewBrewer (270), Austin, Texas, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 26, 2006 12 oz bottle. Dark amber color. Nice carbonation. The aroma has a heavy hop aroma that is tea-like. Nice malt with a good amount of bitterness balancing a nutty flavor. It has a good medium body to back up the profile and has a really nice flavor as it warms. Tasty beer. Cletus (5057), Connecticut, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jan 26, 2006 Pours copper with a thin white head. Smells of tea, roasted malt. Taste is roasty with some spicy elements. stouty1 (9), Ypsilanti, Michigan, USA does not count | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 24, 2006 Very Killians -like, but better. Poured a nice amber/red with a full head. Smells of hops and slight maltiness. Though the ABV is high, it does not overwhelm the taste. However, I feel like this will kill the palate fast and not taste as good a few pints into the night. Tonight, I had only one and I appreciate the brew. For a winter ale it is not very warming but overall satisfies the palate. ELPADRINO (70), The Woodlands, Texas, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jan 24, 2006 Pours a muddy dark bronze with a half inch head. Aroma is peppery malt. Palate is smooth with a decent bitter aftertaste. Taste is more malt than hops. Not bad. SledgeJr (2961), Omaha, Nebraska, USA

This year’s Old Port is lower alcohol than listed on this website. It is currently 6.6%. Good bitterness (25 IBU). I get a very pronounced roasted malt flavor. This has a pleasant coffee taste as well. Nut-like bitter finish and a fine caramel and roasted aroma. Color is a very dark amber brown with reddish undertones in the light. Rich head is off-white in color. Tasty. msutequilaman (84), Troy, Michigan, USA
