Rich amber in color with a pretty two finger thick off white head. Caramal malt pops out in the fore followed by ample hop bitterness..smooth bready malts linger on to the finish which is herbal and clean. Pretty nice offering. Good lacing. The aroma is herbal hops over caramel and bitter nuts. The flavor is carameland toffee almost overpowered by the herb and spice bitterness. Finishes on a lingering, earthy note. Nice warmer.

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 21, 2005 This may be an older sample. Pours a medium brown that provided a good head that quickly diminished and left lacing down the glass. Aroma of malt, spice and yeast. Medium mouthfeel with ample carbonation and nice malty flavor. Subtle yeast and spice finish. I’ll be sure to pick up a six of this next seasons Winter Ale, this is one of Casco’s best.
