Aromas are light, wheat, yeasts, kind of a farmhouse hay and caramel. Needs to breathe. Flavors are earthy and farmy, too. Caramel echoes with the fruity grains of the beer. Thick, long palate that has some spiciness to it. A solid farmhouse ale. gputty (456), Virgina Beach, Virginia, USA

Nose of pears, honey and an earthiness. Syrupy mouth-feel, with more pears and some spices. Finish is crisp and refreshing. A fine brew! ABUSEDGOAT (1934), California, USA

Aroma is quite spicy and has a very Belgian (I’m new to this style) feel to it. Hints of bananas as well. Flavor is the same and it was enjoyable. Mostly dry finish... low bitterness. French in origin, but all characteristics are of a Belgian ale, much like a saison, but there is also complex yeast and malt make this similar to an abbey style beer. Combined, these qualities show why biere de gard is hard to fit into any category. This beer is very floral, with a pleasant light body. Some light fruit flavors.
