| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 22, 2007 Bottled 01-13-06. Pours a hazy, amber color with an off-white, average-sized, pillowy head; the head is mostly diminshing leaving minimal lace. Nose is fairly nice with notes of toffee, raisin, some apricot, lightly toasted caramels, and a grainy yeast note. Flavor is a bit of a letdown; notes of grainy malts and toffee with faint raisins and figs and a floral bitterness that almost seems disassociated from the malt notes. Palate is almost medium, lively, and silky smooth; nice feel, but not as round or full as great examples of the style. Finishes with a decent bitterness after most of the sweetness disappears with lingering notes of toffee, faint yeast, and a mild warmth. Not a bad example of a dying style, but lacked complexities, unique character, and the bold rich mouthfeel of perfect examples of the style. A bit like a watered down version of the style but still approachable and pleasant. faroeviking (6125), BjórtjóðveldiðBjórheimBjórsins, Faroe Islands

Deep, bright orange-amber w. creamy off-white head. Looks nice in my new snifter. Sweet aroma of corn bread and malts. Boring, watered down taste of spicy orange, toffee and hops.
