The aroma was nice with sweet caramel malty notes. The mouth feel was initially mildly tingly with a sweet smooth finish. The flavor contained notes of sweet caramel malts. hotstuff (3175), Indiana, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 5, 2003 Black beer in appearance, similar to a porter. The aroma is very wine orientated whereas the flavour is lightly bitter with malt and coffee elements. A reasonable beer, better than I was expecting. Frank (1068), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 1, 2003 Translucent dark brown with a diminishing tan head with little lace. Smells great--almost bock-y with a molasses edge. I'm wondering if this is bottom fermented. Highly carbonated and somewhat light bodied with a little bit of bite. Sweetly earthy. Slightly bitter, slightly sticky finish with a slight alcoholic edge. HenrikSoegaard (4379), Randers, Denmark
