To celebrate my S4aD on RB while being in Bordeaux...A French Tripel (listed as biere de garde....). 25 cL bottle. Pours clear and golden orange with a huge, slowly collapsing white head. Aroma is cornish and malty, light sweet note. Sweet caramelish flavoured, light bitterness and vague spice note. Lingering sweet caramelish finish, vague metallic note. Sweet little triple, I don’t get why this is listed as Bière de Garde.

They call this a "triple" but customers should beware: this isn’t in any form a Belgian-style "abbey tripel", but an overtly sweet take on a bière de garde; aroma is not that inviting, with alcohol and sweetness all over the place. A pity, because the look of the glass is very nice: an orange beer with big, foamy head and some perlage going on. Taste is very sweet and unrefined, with some annoying sharp notes; I’d not call it very dry, because in the finish all the sweetness comes out and sticks in your mouth even if the beer has gone away. This is my first review fully in English and I’d like to say "hello" to all raters and site viewers who never understood a word of what I wrote, assuring them it was maybe better back then. Anyway I’m not sure I’ll write in English further, it was just because I’m reading an article on Archilochus written in English and writing an English review for Lou Reed’s "The Bells" so the language literally took my hand.

Off white foamy full lasting head. Deep golden lour. Aroma is malty with fruity (apple, apricot) and light alcohol notes. Flavor is moderately malty with fruity (pear) tons, ending in a moderately sweet, slightly metallic finish. Medium bodied.

Big bottle from Auchan. Golden beer with nice white mousse. Aroma is malty, sweet with some flowers and soft hop. Taste is sweet with some banana, malty with honey hints and slight hoppy.

Bottled, 750ml cork & cage, aged 4.5yrs. Gold with white head. This had aged well, still good condition with a light fruity aroma. The body had a deep fruity flavour, peachy and tangy, maybe a sharp apple note. Lacks a dryness, but really pretty decent and reasonably smooth with the aging.

Bottle, 7.5%. Clear dark golden colour. The flavour is nicely malty, slightly sweet, quite peppery. Has a little vegetable, but seems clean. Good peppery aftertaste with a rough, cleansing bitterness.

Had this in Paris, 2006. Notes from then. Have they changed the beer? Medium golden color, average head. Very fruity, somewhat sweet aroma. An amazingly fruity flavor, apple, citrus with a touch of honey, grapes, not very sweet really, with good hop bitterness. A long lasting hop finish too. Very original tasting.
