This golden ale has little life in its lazy bubbling and dead head, but it fizzes up in the mouth like berium powder before an upper GI test. It has a flower and apple aroma with hints of honey sweetness. It’s mainly grainy malts, the apples, alcohol, and a hop bitterness that come through in the flavor. The finish is bitter... and alcohol dry. Yes, this is a bit of a disappointment.

Bottle, from Sainsbury’s. Gold, shortlived thin white head and gentle condition. Sweet grain and honey aromas, soft perfumed grain and flowery honey in the mouth and a low fruity finish with hints of hop bitterness and alcohol.

Thin disappearing head, crystal clear gold body. Faint malt aroma. The flavor reminds me of champagne at first, but just ends up tasting acidic and cidery. Light bodied. Clearly I got a mislabeled bottle. No familiar characteristics of a triple; murky body, bottle conditioning, heavy complex aroma, yeasty flavors, rich palate. But casting style aside, this is still barely enjoyable. For a buck more I could have had a Chimay.

Head is initially small, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is clear medium yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), with notes of apple, bubble gum, and plastic. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter, unclean. Medium body, velvety texture, lively carbonation. It’s a Malt Liquor, truly it is...the aroma says it all. Surprised it isn’t sold in 40oz bottles.

Aside from a slightly larger head this looks just like an american premium. Even the head has big white bubbles that look somewhat soapy. Smells like a malt liquor with orange zest and a few raisins thrown in for an added bonus? My goodness, this is a malt liquor. Sweet white grape juice with a twist; just a hint of yeasty cobwebs and birch bark. Sticky sweet feel that seems to continue to coat even though there are three coats of slimy goo on my tongue already. To call this a bad triple would be an insult to triples (even the worst ones I have had). This is either french malt liquor or another way they have found to get rid of antifreeze. I feel used just drink this drivel of a tripel.
