Jun 16, 2004 An orange beer with no head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of alcohol and hints of caramel. The flavor is sweet caramel with the alcohol leaving You with a burning in the thoat. Much to my suprise the mouthfeel is thin inspite of the 7.5% ABV and the accented alcohol.

Dec 9, 2009 To celebrate my S4aD on RB while being in Bordeaux...A French Tripel (listed as biere de garde....). 25 cL bottle. Pours clear and golden orange with a huge, slowly collapsing white head. Aroma is cornish and malty, light sweet note. Sweet caramelish flavoured, light bitterness and vague spice note. Lingering sweet caramelish finish, vague metallic note. Sweet little triple, I don’t get why this is listed as Bière de Garde.

Sep 19, 2006 [Bottled at Monk’s Café, Stockholm] Pale golden, fairly lively. Almondy yeast aroma dominates the nose. Medium sweet withclean but firm mouthfeel and medium body. Vague estery notes of raspberries, but although pretty good, as a whole it’s like a Bière de Garde light, less extrovert and with less appealing malt character than the top examples of the style.

Apr 21, 2009 Bottle, 7.5%. Clear dark golden colour. The flavour is nicely malty, slightly sweet, quite peppery. Has a little vegetable, but seems clean. Good peppery aftertaste with a rough, cleansing bitterness.

Dec 5, 2005 Bottled. Yellowish golden colour with white foamy head. Halfbitter fruity aroma with soem barnyardish hints. Plummy sweet hayish flavour with hints of raising and rye. Aftertaste is breadish, hayish and hoppy. Quite dry.

Nov 16, 2002 Golden color. Some malt, hop and cork in the nose (it’s a 750ml bottle, corked). Sweet, good body strength, some malt, some cork. Not impressive.

Jun 3, 2005 (750ml bottle) Clear apple juice body topped by quickly-dissipating white head. Aroma is sweet, honey, orange, light apple and strawberry. Taste is moderately sweet, honey, orange, finishing lightly herbal. Medium body with a slightly dry, mildly astringent finish. I spent $13 on this entirely mediocre bottle -- please do not make the same mistake.

Pale golden, good creamy white head. Bready malty nose. Malty, bready, not very triple-like flavor. No alcohol present. This bottle was maybe past its prime.
