Pour is phenomenal; a cloudy orange-amber with a massive off-white head. Sadly, the rest of the beer doesn’t live up to this. Aroma is floral and earthy, with some hay. Taste is one-dimensional. All caramel malt and bread. Flat mouthfeel. Very boring beer. bb (2919), Martinez, California, USA

Nice smooth and mellow drinking. LIngering malty, herbal quality. PorterPounder (3143), Tallahassee, Florida, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 8, 2006 Labled as St Armands French Country Ale - Habersham Beverage Warehouse, Savannah, Ga. - 750 ml. corked bottle. Pours a dark, slightly cloudy orange-brown, with a light white bubble head. Yeasty, sweet aroma with hints of cake mix and ripening vegetables. Flavor has a hint of mint to go along with the cake mix sweetness and yeastiness. Some caramel finds its way in there as well. Mouthfeel is thick enough, slighlty tangy.
Overall, pretty decent, this is a style that does not jump out and grab you but is starting to grow on me. winegarner (220), san diego, California, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 1, 2006 Bottle labeled St Amand French Country Ale. Poured a hazy reddish orange with a light falling off-white head. Aromas are mostly of a malty caramel with some light fruit and a herbal earthiness. Flavors are similar yet less enticing. Lightly bittered with a mild herbal and grassy hop flavor. Semi-dry finish would be better with a higher residual sweetness. gatorbeer (148), Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, USA

Called "Castelain St. Amand French Country Ale" Poured a dark golden body with a nice head. Aroma is yeasty with apples and a little spicy. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 29, 2005 Cloudy brown, big beige head. Very interesting aroma of, well, pork roast? bacon? Its smoky and salty and peppery and just a bare hint of toffee. Mellow but nicely blended flavor - grass, some sourness, some flinty hops. Notes of smoke, too, and some black walnuts. tasty brew.
