Cask at O2 Centre, Greenwich. Amber beer with some carbonation. Taste is malty and hopped. Soft mouthfeel and smooth. I quite liked this beer and am not sure if it is the same Pale Lager.

You know your evening’s been a bit of a disappointment when this is the best thing you’ve sampled. Thinnish and headless, but some surprisingly OK smoky malt and a faintly bready aftertaste. Even a vaguely woody sourness/dryness. The hops have not been completely destroyed. Can this really be XXXX?

The DM & Hotstuff’s European Honeymoon trip beer number 17. This draft brew from the Sherlock Holmes restaurant in London poured a small sized head of small finely sized white colored mostly lasting bubbles that left behind a carbonated transparent brown colored body and an excellent lacing. The aroma contained notes of very mild malts and floral scents. The mouth feel was tingly at the start then turned into a hoppy tingly finish that lingered around for a while to see how you felt! It had a mild malt hop flavor that favored the hops.

Draft at Sherlock Holmes in London. Fast rising carbonation, transparent and a yellow hue. Malty aroma and a hoppy and lightly bitter flavor. Tingly mouthfeel. Medium bodied beer with excellent lacing.

Canned 440ml. It pours a golden beer with a lasting white head. Biscuitty malty aroma. Fairly tart, oily. Not a bad nose at all. Slightly metallic though. Oily, malty taste. Biscuity. This beer isn’t as good as the original Castlemaine XXXX. Nutty mouthfeel. Not great, but it’s definetely not a bad lager. Watery and nutty. Dry malty finish.
