Draft at Barley’s in Asheville. To the last reviewer, this was poured out of a tap handle that said Farm Ted’s and then said Cream on the barrel of the handle. And... yyick. No resemblance to a saison, or at least a decent one as far as I can tell. Had this awful biscuity flavor to it, not good. PASS

I am now convinced that Catawba Valley Farmer Teds Farmhouse Ale and Catawba Valley Farmer Teds Farmhouse Cream Ale are the same beer. Not bad, but nothing very farmhouse-y about it.

KBjam. Clean golden pour with white head and lace. Aroma of light corn and malt. Pleasant maltiness with a hint of bitter on the finish. Good carbonation but a tad thin. An easy drinker for sure. Clean and refreshing

On draught at Barley’s, Asheville Appearance: lovely golden color (like a true Pils-type), and a thin head that sticks around. Nose: almost none. Taste: more similar to a Biere de Garde than a Saison, for sure. Wheat, cornbread predominate, with a nice sour finish. I was hoping for more. Palate: very enjoyable. Great, smooth, and light on the throat. Overall: Even though it’s not high gravity (5.5% ABV), this is not a session beer. It would be stellar with cheese. I would probably opt to leave the corn out, but hey, it makes it interesting. As the pint went on, I discovered that it was much better as it warmed -- don’t drink this beer too cold! I gave it higher marks as it came to room temperature.

Draft sample at Knoxville Brew Jam. Poured a clear yellow color with a minimal frothy white head that mostly diminished with fair lacing. Light sour citrus hoppy aroma. Light body. Light sweet flavor with a light sweet finish of short duration.

Poured a clear golden color with a thin white head. Not really much aroma present - some corn-like smells, but not a whole lot. Medium palate. Really just tastes like a basic bland golden ale. I got this thinking I’d be a saison, but it sure don’t taste like one. I guess since a lot of American farms are monocultures of rice and wheat, the name may make sense.
