Tap. Pours a nice deep dark brown near black with a thick head. some lace. Aroma is chocolate malts, good roast, and hints of anise seed. Leather and earth flavor sharp licorice some tar and big chocolate malts, lots of dry roast and nuts, toffee sweetness in the middle and dries out in the end. Nice overall.

A dark brown with hints of red on the edges. An aroma of chocolate and coffee. Toasted maltiness with just a hint of sweet before it fades to a very nice finishing dry bitter. Good carbonation and mouthfeel make this a pretty nice stout.

Draught at Barley’s in Asheville. Pours a nice black with amber edges and rocky, lacy tan head. The aroma is chocolatey with some roasty notes and some vanilla. The flavor is somewhat oat-like at first, then some sweet chocolate notes. The finish dries a little into some ashiness. Mild leafy hops bounce around throughout. Not great, a very typical dry stout.

Draft sample at Knoxville Brew Jam. Poured a dark brown color with an average frothy brown head that mostly diminished with fair lacing. Moderate roasted coffee and chocolate malt aroma. Medium body with a sticky texture. Medium roasted bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Flavorful soft brew.
