Cereal, red malt aroma. Very bright, clear, red. Tangy, astringent, some vinegar, some unidentifiable vegetable - some kind of pepper - almost chipotle without the burn. Medium light sweetness. Good with the pizza at the Mellow Mushroom - on tap, Asheville.

Knoxville Brewers’ Jam 2006. Pours copper with a beige head. The aroma is biscuit and bread with some raisin. The flavor has a nice American hop quality to it, backed by some toast and charcoal. The finish is slightly smoky. Generic, but tasty.

Reddish copper, with no head. Bready, sweetish aroma - nice, if fairly non-descript. Clean and crisp, with a nice spicy, gingerbread note. Subtle, crisp citrusy hop bite at the end. On tap at Barley’s, Asheville.

Dark red with orange glowing around the edges. Dark berries and some toasted malt coming through in the nose. Tastes of toasted malt that is almost overpowering and unbearable. Very thin and watery. Dissatisfying palate that is almost like bitter coffee. I won’t pick this one up again. Try for yourself but I don’t recommend it.

deep reddish-brown color. very little light brown head. sweet aroma (of molasses?) starts bitter moving to a sweeter fininish. I wanna call it a taste of heavier grain (oats or barley?) am I halucinating that? very light body, watery mouthfeel, pretty flat, overall, pretty disappointing, though somewhat flavorful. Definitely not my favorite from Catawba Valley.

On tap at Barley’s Taphouse in Asheville. Amber in color. Very weak head. Low carbonation. Medium hop level. Slightly metal tasting. Not my favorite of the Catawba beers.

This is a good brew. I like this red amber colored brew. Taste was a bit fruity. Finish was very nice and this is a good overall brew.
