Draught at Barley’s in Asheville, NC. Dark brown with creamy, lasting, tan head that laced the glass. Light malty roasty chocolate nose. Distinctly chocolatey and nutty with hints of toasted bread. Reminded me a bit of Nutella, actually. Definite coconut flavor as well, especially at the end. Coconut is a great way to dress up a porter.

Deep marroon, with a beige head. Nice smoky, chocolatey aroma. Traditioanl chocolatey porter flavors up front, with surprisingly potent coconut flavor in the finish. Very tasty - the roasted coconut flavors blend surprisingly well with the porter flavors, and it doesn’t really seem that gimmicky. Draft at Barley’s, Asheville.

Growler courtesy of tpd975. Pours a nice clear mahogany with tan head. The aroma has a mild level of coconut, sweet malts, faint metal shavings and some nuttiness. The taste has full bold notes of coconut, coconut milk and skin, wow!, mixing with malts, some mild chocolate, a thin layer of highly roasted malts and mild nuttiness. It ends on the dry side. Tasty stuff.

Nice robust porter. Coconut was not overpowering so the balance was good. Sampled from a growler.

Thanks to tpd975 for the share. Pours dark amber with an off-white head. Nose is coconut, malt, roast, and some coffee. Flavor is very similar, but very sessionable. Coconut is unobtrusive, and really complimentary after all is said and done. Very enjoyable beer.

Growler courtesy of tpd. Pours a dark brown with an off white head. Nose is hints of wood, vanilla, rich malts, roastiness, and mild coconut. Flavor is a very rich roasty malt, some coffee, some wood, faint coconut, toffee, mild earthy hops, caramel. Damn fine porter.

Barley’s Taproom Asheville NC. A solid looking near black pour, adequate light tan head. Aroma has a nice blend of roast malt, chocolate, light coconut and "earth". Taste has good roast malt and coffee, some chocolate and vanilla that is probably present from the coconut. The coconut is really just barely present throughout. Finish with a nice bitterness. Solid medium body. Pretty darn good. Better than the Pisgah porter, but not quite as good as the Foothills People’s porter I had in the same sitting.

Brown with no head. Chocolate and coconut aroma. Strong chocolate flavor. Dark palate.
