Here goes. Pours a very light yellow with a lot of bubbles but no head to speak of. The aroma is very strange, a combination of skunk and pepper. I can actually pick up just a little bit of malt, too. The flavor is of a mediocre lager up front with some sweet malt and grass clippings. But once it hits the back of the throat, the pepper kicks in fast. There’s actually a decent pepper flavor before the heat takes over. And the heat isn’t too overwhelming. Actually, I think the pepper makes the beer better; I would much rather drink hot sauce than a skunky, terrible pale lager. Unfortunately, I am accustomed to the heat by 5 or 6 sips in, and can taste the beer again. Sweet, nasty lager with a weird acidity from the pepper. Unpleasant pickle quality, too. It’s about grilling season, so this will go in a marinade. StueyD (590), King’s Lynn, Norfolk, Norfolk, England

A distinctive pickled chilli aroma and a slight hop finish. A strong chilli flavour with a dry hoppiness and a hot finish! ratman197 (3248), Arvada, Colorado, USA
| 1.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Mar 5, 2006 Bottle poured a clear yellow with an odd hint of green and no head. Aromas of predominatly jalapeno that overpowers any other aroma. Palate was thin and fiery. Flavor was hot, damn hot spicy jalapeno flavor with a trace of malt and a crisp, fiery finish. This is the first beer that ever made me sweat! pivo (2537), Germany

It tastes like a chili pepper too. Bizarre. Why would you want that in a big. It’s hot too - I mean spicy hot. Burns going down. Wow. Not enjoyable overall. I had this probably 15 years ago and I’m surprised they are still making it. I mean, who’d drink it? hopmalt (15), syracuse, New York, USA

Aroma and taste is all about the pepper with a burning finish. A good beer to try for the curious mind. However, I’m glad I was able to buy it as a single. Would probably taste better while eating some Mexican food. Immy (1912), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA
| 1.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 1/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 5/20 | Feb 26, 2006 Updated: Feb 27, 2006Via trade from Lou18 - thanks Lou! Shared with gputty. I recently had my first Westy 12, and felt that if you try the best, you should try the worst. Oddly, I expected this to suck more than it did. Pours solid yellow, with lots of carbonation and a medium white head that disappears quickly, never to be seen again. Nose is not good - skunky corn aromas, and some skunky, sickly malts. Flavor starts out like a sweet, cheap lager, then the pepper kicks in. YOWZA! Pepper. Serious pepper. It’s all chili pepper from there on out. I wish they would float the pepper in a decent beer. It might actually work! Oh, and yes, I ate the pepper. Certainly bad, but far from the worst. Float a pepper in Icehouse for a worse beer, IMHO. gputty (456), Virgina Beach, Virginia, USA

Was prepared for the worst, took a sip and was about to think "not too bad, what’s all the fuss about?" when the pepper hit. Whoa! Wasn’t prepared for that and I am not a pepper geek, so I can’t say whether the pepper was any good, although Immy says no. Pours a dark yellow, with a white head that goes away completely. Skunked aroma, some corn and whatever the pepper is. Didn’t get much of a chance to nail down the flavor, but was thinking corn when my mouth caught on fire. A very amusing beverage to share!
