The label says "Beer" and the only color comes from the infused pepper, so there’s the answer. I pour this bottle into a pint glass, and PLOP! What the hell was that? There’s a vegetable in my beer, and I did not expect it at all! Must have hidden behind the label. I plucked it out with my fingers, for I can’t stand that sad, wet legume sitting at the bottom of my glass, and getting in my lips as I try to drink!
Color is reddish, but clear, head is instantaneously gone. Aroma? Hot, spicy, intense chili flavor. Taste? Hot, intense chili flavor. Body is light, texture, there is none, no particular flvor here at all, except that given by the pepper, and that is simply too much and not enough. Rogue’s Mexicali is a wiser approach, using an ale as base, and without so overwhelming a peppery component. These guys use an incredibly bland lager for base, and while the result is "crazy", to be sure, it doesn’t taste very good.
I poured this one out, not because I couldn’t finish it, but because I lost interest.

So it’s hot... although not extremely so... but unfortunately other than the heat, there’s not much to it. Beer is flat, uninspiring pale yellow. Initial gush of white head disappears quickly. Aroma is all chili. Any beer flavour is overshadowed by the hot pepper. Body is unexciting - still and kind of oily. Even as a novelty, it’s not that good. Bottle. | 0.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 1/5 | 2/10 | 1/5 | 1/20 | Jul 6, 2004 This is like a Corona with added chili/jalapeno juice and even less taste. Chili was in the aroma and taste, and it was not balanced. This is a novelty beer at heart. Points for originality, but not for anything else. YourDarkLord (1800), Urbana, Illinois, USA

Actually bought it because i was told it went well in chili. Had to take a sip first, however. Barf! I did use it in the chili with success but would never again. This stuff is probably the worst beer ever. Makes you long for a Corona. Alcoholist (570), Peoria, Illinois, USA

Possibly the worst beer in the world. At least with undrinkable Rauchbiers you can tell there was craftmanship. SubstanceT (1090), Saint Louis, Missouri, USA

Sure whatever maybe this is the way spiced beer is supposed to taste but come on seriously what the hell are these people trying to do to me? I do believe that my palate is tainted beyone repair, in fact, give me a disgusting rauchbier to clense my palate. One thing that I can say about this is that it does indeed smell and taste like chilli peppers. Sick tho. burgerlicious (308), Indianapolis, Indiana, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 2/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jun 28, 2004 YOWZA! I can’t believe all of the bad reviews that this "beer" is getting. It’s like nothing else I’ve ever had. It’s incomparable. The aroma was spicy and it looked like a pale champagne without a head. The unexpected kick of flavor was delayed a few seconds after I had finished a sip. The aftertaste is EXPLOSIVE! You have to try this at least once. It made me want to go to a Mexican restaurant. sethdude (604), St. Louis, Missouri, USA
| 1.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 1/5 | 2/10 | 4/5 | 6/20 | Jun 22, 2004 Pours a golden straw color, very little carbonation. In fact, I would consider this beer flat. Chili pepper floating inside looks pretty tasty. Nose is primarily pepper, with a hint of very sweet grain below. Flavor is sweet and spicy, very much dominated by pepper. Ends extremely weak. Kind of good and very, very bad all at once. I drank the whole bottle just to say that I’ve done it. The only beer I’ve ever had in a clear bottle that wasn’t skunky.
