1st rater, sampler @ brewpub. This would probably be my favorite of the beers at the brewpub, its a standard porter one would see but has just a little bit of a twist to it. Color is very dark brown, almost black, in general thick looking. Aroma is thick and sweet with no astringency. A bit of a peaty earthiness and just the faintest sourish twang (that’s the cool part). It is similar in flavor. Its definitely in the English vain, no roast at all. The finish, with its sour twang, lets the beer completely mellow away at the back of the throat. More good stuff.
