Commercial Description:
Tournay Noire is a beer, refermented in the bottle, with an alcohol content of 7,6%. It contains only natural ingredients: water, four malts, two hops, yeast and sugar. We select special malts and very traditional hops to give it a powerful, long flavour in the mouth and a quite a strong hint of bitterness. This is a beer that will really appeal to Stout lovers!!

Bottle. Lots of chocolate in aroma aswell as the taste. Dry finish. This beer is a little boring, but a good compliment to chocolate candy.

Bottle, New Oxford, Salford. A very dark brown, virtually black pour with a minimal off white head. Sweet roasted malt aroma with dark chocalate and dark fruit notes. Similar themes in the flavour which had a strange kind of chalky taste in there too which I’m not too sure I’m keen on. Drying finish. On the whole an above average stout though.

Bottle best before April 2011 from Bruisin’. Pours a deep, rich brown with a massive, pillowy head. The lacing is clingy and bubbly. I’m not sure what to expect from these Belgian stouts anymore. The aroma is not too thrilling. It’s dry and has only faint nods at a stout. There are some baking spices going on along with hints at packing tape and pineapple. I’m not much excited by the flavor either. It has some weird esters and clash awkwardly with weak cacao notes. The finish is messy, but not outright offending, just a nuisance with its lactic qualities. I mean, it’s not a really bad beer, it just doesn’t come together as it should and it is certainly not worth the price tag. That and the light notes of packing tape with which Baladin sour edition has forever ruined my palate.

In short: A yeasty fruity roasted dark Belgian ale with DMS infection.
How: Bottle 750ml. Consumed relatively fresh one year before expiration date
The look: Very dark brown body topped by a medium tan head
In long: Major gusher. Nose is that of a greasy black cake. Something wrong with that greasy/buttery aroma. As expected from the aroma, taste is totally ruined by DMS. Milk chocolate, some generic black cake, some dark fruits. But also quite a bit of butter and grease. Like eating greasy pop-corn, a chocolate cake and drinking a glass of milk, all at the same time. Fluffy yeasty body, lively carbonation. I couldn’t finish a single glass, felt way too greasy. Using some imagination I think I tasted an ordinary brew. Anyway, I properly cellar my bottles, this one was one year before expiration date and it clearly was infected. Infection is no laughing matter, especially nowadays, sex is now more dangerous than the cigarette afterward.

Bottle. Black beer with a strong light brown head. The aroma is fizzy and malty, and the flavour is rich, malty, sweetish and yeasty. Overall a nice malty, roasted and rich flavoured beer.

Bottle that I picked up at Dranken Geers, Oostakker, Gent, Belgium, 31-10-09 consumed 07-11-09 Pours black with a tan head of bubbles. Touch of roastiness on the nose, there is a little vanilla in fact that aroma of vanilla ice cream that you get when you get your ice cream out of the feezer and open the tub. There is some bozzy nuttiness in the mout, its a little cold to start with and is getting much better as it warms up. Its fine. A7 A4 F6 P3 Ov13 3.3

Bottle from Bruisin’ Ales in Asheville. Pours dark brown with slight dark red tint and one-finger dark beige head that thins out but leaves some lacing. Nose of chocolate, earthy yeast, and some dark fruits (prunes, raisins, currants). Something odd going on with the nose until it warms a bit, and then it smells much more appealing. Bit of licorice. Lactic hint. Slightly chalky finish. Thin body. Interesting.

Very deep maroon color with a medium tan head with nice lacing. Aroma of cocoa and malt. Taste of dark chocolate and licorice, mostly sweet but with a very slight bitter edge and a longish finish with noted of cafe au lait. Medium body. Nice enough, drinkable but not very complex.
