Aroma of dark malts, bitter chocolate and fruit. The taste is malty with some chocolate notes, brown sugar, dry fruit and spices. The mouthfeel is zesty at first, but then becomes kind of dry at the finish. Overall, I would say this is a very interesting stout but not the kind that you are used too. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 2, 2009 Bottle. Pours a dark brown with a small light tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, bitter chocolate, light fruits, and yeast. Flavor of sweet malt initially with a roasty finish, some more bitter chocolate notes. Definite Begian yeasty notes. Nothing too special, a little on the sweet side, but a chill Belgian stout.

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 2, 2009 Bottle. Aroma of cookie malt, molasses, cherries, peaches, tangerines, DOTS (the candy), all-around moderately roasted. Flavor again roasted with a sweet fruitiness, somewhat leathery. Slight rock salt-like astringency if that makes any sense. Still a nicely roasted stout with fruit aspects that don’t overrun the stoutiness if you will. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Apr 24, 2009 Bottle: Poured a medium black color ale with a large off-white head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of light roasted malt with Belgian malt and some light DMS. Taste is also dominated by lightly sweet Belgian malt with some lightly roasted malt and some overcooked vegetables which is not strong enough to ruin this beer but not very pleasant either. Body is somewhat full with great carbonation and no alcohol is showing. Interesting take on the style but too flawed to try on a regular basis. Rastacouere (5559), Montréal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 23, 2009 Large and lasting head fed by dynamic carbonation. Pleasant, relatively fresh grainy aroma with a roasty side that never becomes agressive, never reaches out towards acidity nor metallic aspects. Not all that perfumey, but spicy, peppery, herbal. A distinct basement/cement note is not unpleasant to the nose, but becomes a bit plastic reminiscent as it warms up. Moderate earthy, leafy hoppiness joins with the hard water’s mineral side to provoke a dry and refreshing finish. Perhaps a bit phenolic in the end. Light-bodied, but comfortable texture and fair drinkability. Good! charlotte (2034), Vanløse, Denmark
