Tangy roast in the nose, sweet chocolate, creamy fruitiness. Nice roasted tones in the flavors, chocolate, some caramel, nice nuttiness. Crisp, spicy body, drinkable, delicious even, although I find that hard to believe considering I gave it a 7. Slayer85 (585), Firenze, Italy
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 29, 2008 750 ml bottle. An opaque almost black beer with a quite big, creamy and persistent brown head. The aroma has a good amount of roasted malts. There is also some chocolate and coffee. Quite powerful. The flavour has a moderate sweetness and a light to moderate acidity, maybe a bit too much of the last for my liking in a Stout. Same good chocolate notes. Medium to full body, average to lively carbonation, long finish with medium bitterness. A good stout and the Belgian origin is not unrecognizable. Good, even though not as elegant as the Tournay Noel. BoBoChamp (1388), Gent, Belgium

The beer pours a next to black body under a beige head of moderate size. Slightly spiced on the nose, Belgian sweetness and roasted malts. Roasted, sweet finish with some spicy notes and a touch of coffee. Lasting finish with sugary sweetness and roasted malts. Full body. A quite nice one, but not world class. Rating: 7-4-7-4-15-3.7. Bottle. A very dark brown beer with a reddish hue. Big beige to tan head sits on top. Burnt, coffeeish aroma, dry and slightly (malty)sour. Some dark chocolate and notes of dried fruits. Heavily rosted malts in the mouth, some sourness and alcohol, and coffee and hints of chocolate. Coffee-like bitterness. Quite effervescent, dry, with a sweetish touch. Coffee-bitter finish. Not the typical Belgian ale, not the typical stout either, but really pleasant, even though I prefer more fruityness and a bit more sweetness in my stouts. Moderate aroma of dry dark malts and dried dark fruita. Taste is clean, fairly dry and malty with some fine bittering hops to balance. Roastiness and dark dried fruits underneath. Not very filling for 7.6% beer. Feels little watered down in the mouth. Short dryish ending. fishingnet (1045), Brandon, Florida, USA
