Commercial Description:
Tournay Noire is a beer, refermented in the bottle, with an alcohol content of 7,6%. It contains only natural ingredients: water, four malts, two hops, yeast and sugar. We select special malts and very traditional hops to give it a powerful, long flavour in the mouth and a quite a strong hint of bitterness. This is a beer that will really appeal to Stout lovers!!

75cl at the brewery. Pours dark brown with brownish head. Aroma is sugary, yeasty / biscuit and roasted, lightly hoppy. Taste roasted coffee hoppy candi sugar, lightly floral and spicy notes, notes of chocolate. A very impressive stout, one of the few coming out of Belgium that are remarkable. For 7.6% the beer packs quite a punch.

Bottle at the European Beer Festival, Copenhagen. The beer pours a next to black body under a beige head of moderate size. Slightly spiced on the nose, Belgian sweetness and roasted malts. Roasted, sweet finish with some spicy notes and a touch of coffee. Lasting finish with sugary sweetness and roasted malts. Full body. A quite nice one, but not world class. (080912)

(Bottle 33 cl) Slightly hazy orangey brown with a vague tint of orange and a rough beige head. Aroma of roasted malt and dried fruit. Medium body with a heavy carbonation. Hard roasted malt accents, a little burned caramel and dried fruit. Ends a little dry. 140908

Bottled@EBF 2008. Dark mahogny colored with a firm beige head. Moderate aroma of dry dark malts and dried dark fruita. Taste is clean, fairly dry and malty with some fine bittering hops to balance. Roastiness and dark dried fruits underneath. Not very filling for 7.6% beer. Feels little watered down in the mouth. Short dryish ending.

Bottle courtesy of Sebletitje. Pours a very dark brown with a one finger light tan head that leaves good lacing. Aroma of dark fruit and roasted malt. Taste is the same as aroma. Medium thin mouthfeel with a mild to moderate amount of bitterness. Good.

From tap at Bruxellensis 2008. Dark brown with red tones. Healthy tan head. Fruit and roast aromas. Quite good roast flavours, mild fruit. Landing hard on the tongue with its fizziness. Well-crafted, for sure.
