DrunkenWeasel (218), Portland, Oregon, USA Oct 7, 2006 Pours opaque and light yelow with a sizeable white head. Smells of grapefruit and pine. Taste is INSANELY citrusy. So much grapefruit taste with lemon mixed in. Hard to taste the wheat grain but it comes through more in the aftertaste with a wheaty flavor finishing off the palate. I don’t usually like wheats that much or belgians but this was nice. There was some yeasty flavor (as noted the wheat flavor at the end was accentuated by a yeast touch) but it wasn’t too much for my tastes and pretty nice.
tarjei (1166), Bryne, Norway Aug 29, 2008 25 cl bottle, bought at Ølkonsortiet, Aalborg. Hazy yellow orange, fine white head. Aroma is strong, with citrus and spices in front, also wheat and yeast. The flavor is a bit on the sour side with spices, hops and malt; nice, but not what I expected. ucusty (1062), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA Aug 28, 2008 Tap at raleigh times.Cloudy yellow color with a white head. A bit acidic/sourish taste with notes of citrus, grapes and grain. Dry finish mike1977ok (365), Netherlands Aug 22, 2008 Pale, hazy straw colour. Flavour a little on the sour side. Smells a bit stale. A poor effort.
JCB (1009), Durham, North Carolina, USA Aug 13, 2008 On tap at the Raleigh Times, Raleigh. I’m assuming this is going to end up my highest rated wit. It sure was a beauty, and held up well back-to-back with JP’s offering. Superbly handsome body, cloudy straw yellow with a nice lively carbonation and a decent, solid head. What I like about this one is that it’s anything but a by the numbers wit. No fooling around with generic orange peel, coriander, blah blah blah. No this one is crisp, a bit sour, and a bit earthy with yeasty notes all over the place. Very well done. BillKismet (1407), Seattle, Washington, USA Aug 6, 2008 Was called Ervelds Wit at The Dray in Seattle. Appealing cloudy straw color with fantastic Belgian lacing. One of the better looking Witts. Profusion of wheat and coriander smells, quite piquant. Quenching and flavored with wheat and coriander with some banana notes rounding out the medley nicely. A bit flat in flavor, but a better than average Witt just the same.
