Commercial Description:
Unfiltered in bottle and keg.
Pierre Celis created the original Hoegaarden beer in the early 1960’s. Interbrew-Labatt bought the brand and the brewery in the 1980's. Pierre Celis formed a new brewery in Austin Texas, brewing the same beer but under the brand name Celis White. Miller bought the Celis brewery and the Celis White brand-name in 1996. The brewery closed in 2000. In late 2002 Michigan Brewing bought the Celis White brand from Miller. Brouwerij Van Steenberge is now brewing the original Pierre Celis White under the brand-name Celis White in Europe and Ertveld's Wit in North America.

Draught. Pours cloudy yellow, with pristine white head. Lively citrus aroma, with hop notes. And lively on the palate too, with citrus and some banana predominating, and refreshing with it. A decent white beer.

250 ml bottle. From Eindhoven, the Netherlands.
Hazy pale yellow colour with small white head. Aroma is combination of caramel sweetness and lemon crispiness. I like it. There’s no caramel sweetness in flavour. Lemon, wheat, spices, some hops in crisp flavour. Quite fizzy.

Flat appearance, little head. Aroma of herbs with some lemon and lime, also reminds of Italian herbs. Fresh taste with lot’s of lemon. Watery aftertaste, disappears quickly, but the herbs stay.

Aroma is a bit sour, sort of reminds me of cheese but without the bacteria and moisture in the smell. Just a bit too hazy to be called clear and with a bit of rose hues to the very light yellow. Flavour is sweet and reminds me of a fruit beer, it is the best single charecteristic of this beer. Palate is fairly flate, a bit of fizz at the end but its sudden and reminds me of candy with CO2 bubbles in it that explode in your mouth, only this is much less than that. Not too bad, but not what I expected for all the hype about the former Hogaarden brewere making this and all that. Hogaarden is quite a bit better than this is. NOTE: 02/04/09 exp date on bottle, so maybe I’m being unfair here.

Interesting, a Belgian beer, brewed for an American brewery by a Belgian brewery. Pours murky white. Aroma of fruit, grapes, hops, citrus, raisins. Flavor of sugar, a bit watery and not much carbonation. Long decent bitter finish.

Pours a hazy gold color with a creamy white head. Aroma is hoppy and fruity with mostly citrus. Flavors are quite bitter, with citrus and some hops. It has a creamy feel, with a sharp bitter lemon finish. Nice and refreshing.

Bottle as shown. Pours a cloudy yellow golden with a medium creamy white head that diminishes quickly leaving decent lacing along the glass. The aroma is yeast, banana, coriander and bubblegum. Thin mouthfeel with a wheat taste with citrus and a nice crisp finish. Very refreshing and easy to drink. A good Wit from BVS.
