| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Oct 20, 2007 Bomber from Bottle Barn. Aroma of peaty malt. Seems a bit sweetish. Very dark brown color with a tannish head that didn’t stay very long. Medium body with mild carbonation. A definite molasses flavor that is backed by some smoke. There’s also some dark fruit and roasted malt. Whoa! This is heavy stuff. It’s much more complicated than many "Scotch" ales. HInts of tar? The finish is not all that dry, and the dark, tarry flavors stay around. There’s even some bitter coming out at the end. It’s really impressive. Looks like production may be a bit inconsistent, but I seem to have lucked out. badlizard (2396), Berkeley, California, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 19, 2008 22oz bottle. Pours hazy dark brown with a fizzy offwhite head. Smells smokey and roasty malty with some sour wine barrel characteristics, my buddy thought it was the smokiness. Tastes sweet malty, slightly roasty. Again with the sour grape/wine barrel character. Medium body, good carbonation. AleDrinker (1090), Sunnyvale, California, USA

Cloudy ugly, deep amber color. Light carbonation and medium bodied. Smoky malty nose. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Dec 2, 2007 Bottle. Dark mahogony beer with a tan head. Smoky, caramel, sweet malt aroma with a bit of fruitiness. Sweet malt flavor with smoke. Sweetness becomes strangely sacharine. A bit of earthiness. Medium body. Lingering smokey, malty, sweet. I did get over the sweetness and spent the rest of the bottle trying to figure out if it’s infected or not.
