axilla (948), New Providence, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 29, 2008 2008 vintage. Pours a medium bodied brown amber color with a small, but sticky tan head. The aroma is a rather complex variety of dried dark fruit, candied sugar, semi-sweet smoke, bourbon, and dry oak. The flavor starts off with an abundance of dark fruits (black cherries, red grapes, plums) and some sweeter roasty malts with bourbon, vanilla, and oak rounding out the finish. Good stuff. adrian910ss (1051), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 26, 2008 2008 bottle courtesy of the MotorToddHead. Pours a murky dark caramel brown with a small beige head. Aroma of sweet dark fruit, brown sugar, vanilla, coconut, wood and bourbon. Taste of mild bourbon blended with dates, brown sugar, vanilla, coconut and wood. This one is SUPERB !!!! Papsoe (11062), Frederiksberg, Denmark Nov 18, 2008 (Bottle 35,5 cl) Courtesy of pepsican. Comes as: "Central Waters Brewers Reserve Bourbon Barrel Barleywine". Very low bitterness. 311008 yespr (7785), Copenhagen O, Denmark Nov 3, 2008 12 fl oz bottle, courtesy of Papsoe. Pours hazy orange to brown with a fully gone head. Aroma is dense barrel wooden aroma with a mild dried fruity note. Dry malty and wooden flavour. Solid malty to solid wooden flavoured with a distinct warming note. Spiced and acidic finish. Too overwhelming for my taste. Grovlam (3319), Copenhagen, Denmark Oct 31, 2008 Bottle. [Tasting session @ Papsoe, 31-10-2008] Average creamy beige like head that mostly diminished. Spare display of lacework. Light cloudy amber color. Aroma of bread, vinous, grain, dried fruit, Sherry like, alcohol. Over the palate came good hoppy notes combined with the strong malty profile. Full bodied with an average carbonation and thick light alcoholic texture. Heavy sweet flavor with good counter sweetness. Lingering vinous malty finish.
