Pours dark brown with pink edges. Cherries come out right away, tart berries, then a huge oak flavor, bourbon, old wood, vanilla beans, with a slightly tart finish and little alcohol burn (not sure how much is in there but i taste it alittle) tronraner (1938), Seymour, Tennessee, USA

The aroma is coffee, bourbon, cherry, and mild caramel. The flavor is slight cherry, milk chocolate, mild acidity, and distant coffee. A little bit of alcohol peeks through in the aftertaste. Enjoyable. BeerBelcher (945), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 4, 2007 Surlysober and I split a bottle of this beer. It was much more kriek and much less bourbon-barrel stout than I expected. I thought this beer was quite good, but I felt unbalanced. It is black and stout-looking but tastes like a kriek; I felt the beer would have been improved with some additional roastiness to balance the cherry flavor. Nonetheless, I felt this beer was quite good, but good because it had a great deal of cherry sourness, not because it was a great stout. Make sense?
It pours a dark color with lots of head. Aroma is very kriek-like in its smell, with some bourbon aroma once the sourness wafts past your nose. Flavor was of sour cherries up front, and was quite sour, with some roastiness and bourbon notes on the back end. Mouthfeel was smooth, but tart. iowaherkeye (1873), Los Angeles, California, USA

Aroma has some tart cherries, oak and vanilla, a good amount of butterscotch and milk chocolate. There are also some hazelnuts. The roasted malts aren’t as dominant as I’d imagine with an imperial stout. Flavor is fruity, woody, and acidic from both of the aforementioned flavors. The roast is thankfully more prominant, though still not the biggest flavor. Medium body with light to moderate carbonation, though it is slightly thinner than I’d have liked. Never got sweet, never got bitter, either--more woody and fruity acidic if anything. Dry finish. A good amount of toffee is there. This is pretty much the Bourbon Barrel Stout with cherries added--go figure. I honestly don’t really pick up on anything else other than the cherries, though I like the original bourbon barrel more. illinismitty (1800), Nashville, Tennessee, USA

Medium bodied but with more of a porter like texture. Flavor of roasted malt, vanilla, and tart cherries. Just a very slight hint of bourbon, joined by more cherries on the finish. yespr (12407), Copenhagen O, Denmark

Fruity and slight wineous aroma, subdued hoppy. Fruity and light roasted to vague sulphorish flavoured. Light dry wooden and fruity into a lasting mixed impression into the far finish. kmweaver (2484), Sebastopol, California, USA

Pours a dark, murky cherry-cola color; khaki-colored head with a reddish tinge and decent retention and lacing. Bitter chocolate and bing cherries in the aroma; kind of light. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: bing cherries, coffee, some sticky bourbon-tinged caramel upfront; pleasant amount of weight and viscosity and tart cherry / fruit character; decent bourbon-barrel aging backing things up; the stout character is a bit light. Lengthy, bing cherry and toasty grain finish.
