Bottle. First rating in a number of months and the 100th rating for this brew. Knowing this is a cherry flavored beer, I can clearly make out the cherry in the nose. Would make a nice winter seasonal. Fully opaque body. Not much head or lace. Cherry beer lovers will like this one. A lot of strength, a discernable cherry tartness and a semi-sweet chocolatety aspect. Well done. Warming. A very good beer that requires some palate adjustment up front.

Dark pour with some nice lacing. Aroma is quite complex. A bit woody, cherry, merlot and some roasted malts and coffee. Flavor is sweet, oak, some faint bourbon, lots of cherries and red wine like tannins. A bit of tartness but not overly sour. Roasted malts and coffee with a hint of cherry vanilla at the end. Nice.

courtesy of BA trade. pours black with a dark mocha head aroma of light tart cherries, lots of bourbon goodness, malts and hints of chocolate. taste, wood/bourbon barrel elements are quite present, had hints of sweet vanilla mix with hints of cherry tartness that despite the 80lbs added to the barrel doesn’t make this beer overly tart. As the beer warmed up, it gained in intensity, chocolate became more noticeable. On the palate, bourbon comes first followed by the cherries/chocolate.

12oz bottle from bwkrieger from like a year ago....thanks man. Dark brown with light brown head. Sweet cherry aroma with roasted malts. Complex mix of oak, bourbon, cherry, and roast. The cherry comes through nicely, just enough tartness without being bitter or overbearing. Everything balances well. Minimal alcohol presence. Really nicely done. Fairly heavy.

Bottled - probably my rating # 15,000 if I include my backlog. A hazy deep red beer with a huge tan head. The aroma is sweet with notes of malt, hops, fruit, and berries. The flavor is sweet malty with a light acidic edge, strong notes of fruit, medium notes of wood, and lighter notes of vanilla and alcohol, leading to a slightly tart finish. The alcohol leaves a burn on the tongue. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.

Bottle 35,5 cl. Courtesy of pepsican/iowaherkey. Pours a dark brown with a tint of red and a creamy beige head. Aroma of hard roasted malt and lightly tart cherry, a whiff of butter also. Medium body, hard roasted malt and lightly tart notes of cherry. The finish also has some tartness combined with a solid dryness. fresh. 290509

12oz bottle....blackish pour with a thin tan head and reddish brown edges... bourbon forward aroma with softer vanilla tones that coincides with a backend cherry presence... flavors of sweet toffee, cherry, and bourbon that quickly sours up. not on par with bells ba cherry. a little to bitter and sour in the aftertaste.

Blind tasting at Papsø’s
Dark color, mahogany with ruby shades; medium creamy head. The aroma is very nice, clearly it has Bourbon vanilla, persistent, with sweet nuts, ending with an impression of cinnamon and fudge. Unfortunately the flavor shows, for me, some flaws: unwanted sourness, chocolate flavor, the sweetness is gone, some mou (fudge) candy trace, quite harsh final (medium sourness mixed with partially roasted malts). Confused.

I had to fairly adjust the score after the tasting, as it was not mentioned that it was a cherry beer. Originally: 8-4-5-3-11.

#26 Bottle. [Papso Shady blind Tasting 2009] Small bubbly beige head that mostly diminished. Spare display of lacework. Dark mahogany color. Aroma of berries, citrus, fruit, mild toasted malt, light vinegar, mild wood like feel. Medium bodied with a soft carbonation. Light to moderated sweet and acidic flavor. Light sour fruity finish. 7 / 3 / 7 / 3 / 15 = 3.5
