quaff7 (1), USA does not count May 5, 2008 Stopped at the brewery in Amherst, Wisconsin on my way home from a trip to Northern Wisconsin. People were very cordial. Took home a half gallon "growler" of Irish Union. It’s a smooth beer with good taste and aroma.
JohnnyOS (625), Golden, Wisconsin, USA Jan 20, 2008 Pours amber with copper highlights. Average head. Aroma of roasted caramel malts , citrus and fruit. Flavor follows aroma, but adds some bitterness. Dry finish. Skyview (2901), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA Oct 28, 2007 Sampled on draught as "Central Waters Irish Union" at the brewpub in Marshfield, Wisconsin. Pours a clear coppery amber brew with a creamy, slow dissolving, off-white head that has good retention and lacing. Aroma of sweet caramel malt, a touch of roasted nuts and some dry citrus zest. Taste is medium bodied, lightly carbonated with a caramel malt and tart berry flavor. Finish has a good balance of tart fruit and malt aftertaste with a slight bitter that lingers on after the finish. The_Enemy (383), Chicago, USA Oct 26, 2007 Updated: Nov 3, 2007On tap. Pours a clear bright amber with a good dose of head that settles fairly quickly. Nice bits of Brussels lace about the insides of the glass. Aroma gives up a crisp hop bitterness and slight hints of tart fruit and red licorice. Flavor shows all these things but with the fruit tartness a bit more muted than in the aroma; plus a nice lightly toasty dry grain shows up as well. Clean, medium palate with a dry finish. An experimental beer, and the experiment works well.
