This was a great smoked ale! The aroma was super smoky with lots of bacon, sausage, and hickory. I loved it! A good smoked is like a meal on its own!

DARK!! Attractive foamy tan cap, smells of leather (!) and smoke, taste med-light smoke & rich dark malt, medium light feel, long lingering sweetness, smoke, a little hop. But it tastes two-dimensional, this beer lacks a ’middle’ - farmy manure, hay and sweet overtones.

On tap at C’est What - came a clear dark brown with a thin off-white head that soon diminished but laced neatly. Aroma chocolaty and lightly smoked. Perhaps a very mildly herbal character, but that might have been because I was looking for it. Flavour much more full of smoke, nice malts, a touch of hop bitterness to keep everything in check. Body sliiiiiightly thin, but not to the overall detriment of the beer. Nice sessionable smoked. Good one.

[2512-20091002] Tap. Smoky roast beef meat aroma with wood grain. Clear, dark brown red-hued body with a long-lasting creamy off-white head. Grainy toasted malt flavour. Medium-full body. Definitely smoky, like a big fat cigarette butt.

Draught at C’est What’s ’Fall Festival of Craft Breweries’. Pours a dark amber-brown with a small lasting creamy off-white head. Aroma: Smoke? I didn’t expect that! Smoke, lightly roasted dark malt and some sweetness. Flavour’s really smoky along with dark malt and cream. Average bodied. Enjoyable, if you like smokey beers, which I do.

Draught. At 2009 C’est What Fall festival. Perhaps my favorite new-to-me beer of the festival, but that’s not saying all that much. Slightly hazy deep reddish-brown pour with a good creamy beige cap. Smoky bacon aroma, roasty, a little sweet. Very smoky flavour - campfire, hickory cured bacon, bitter ash, some lactic table cream ... thick creamy mouthfeel, with a smoky minerally aftertaste - I liked it quite a bit; bacon? WIN!

On-tap at C’est What. A mildly smoked beer, that gives a nice smell.Lacey. With fennel. Understated carbonation

Appearance: clear mid brown ale with mid creamy top. Fizzy yet fine looking. 3+
Nose: Slight smoky , creamy aromas based on dark malts , good roasted charcter.6+
Flavor/Palate : strong smoky character yet with mild grainy touch. Thinner ending with brown malts as noted accent. Decent.
