Caramel, and a bit of cream soda. I sense a trend here as both this and the hemp beer were piled high with cream soda aromas. More sweetness, a touch of the spicy rye that was missing from the nose. Finishes with a light bitterness. Slacks (485), Bolton, Ontario, Canada
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Sep 7, 2009 Draught @ C’est What: Comes dark brown, very little head. Aroma is muted, trying to pull the rye out, getting some malts. Taste is bitter without the desired floral or citrus notes, boring. I’d rather a Raftman if I’m after a rye beer. piscator34 (1129), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 9, 2009 On draft at C’est What. Dark brown in colour with low carbonation. Somewhat subdude aromas of light malt, caraway seeds, and a hint of berry fruit. Flavors are of more caraway, malted rye, and a hint of minty German hops. Quite drinkable, but not quite the liquid rye bread beverage I was hoping for. PaulHegedus (466), Georgetown, Ontario, Canada
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Apr 11, 2009 Draught at C’est What, Toronto. This beer is light orange, amber with a thin, off-white head. The aroma has some grass in the hops, some toffee, honey, soap. The mouthfeel is fairly light. In the flavour I taste toffee, rye, grassy hop bitterness, caramel, brown bread. robinvboyer (1429), Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, Canada
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Mar 30, 2009 This was kinda boring. It was more like an amber ale. Some slight nutty aromas mixed with a butterscotch kinda maltiness, but i didn’t detect much rye at all. Meh, seems like a basic amber ale to me. Lubiere (4529), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 26, 2009 A nice reddish brown ale with a thin off white head. A nice caramel aroma with butterscotch notes. In mouth, a light caramel malt with sweet notes, a bit buttery. On tap at C’est What, March 21, 2009. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 5, 2008 Sample at C’est What - poured a chestnut colour with a creamy mocha head. Spicy, earthy, bready aromas. Like Sweet, but a bit of spiciness (not overpowering) from the rye and an additional complexity from the caraway are quite interesting. Lighter on the palate than expected. Nice beer. Oakes (8093), gone rambling, Vietnam
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Sep 19, 2008 Golden-brown colour. Caramel nose with light brown sugar. Thick, lightly toasty body. There’s some caraway but not much rye. Mostly just a nondescript amber.
